Grand Opening Instructions
First… book the Grand Opening the day you sign your agreement!
If
you book your Grand Opening on the day you sign your agreement, you win a
prize!
Make
sure you have 50 on your guest list to insure 15 in attendance. Pretend it
is your wedding. Who would you invite?
You
win the Mary Kay watch if 15 attend.
INVITATIONS:
Plan
to have invitations received one week before Grand Opening
Include
place, date, time (just the start time, i.e. 7:00 pm), directions
$1.00
off each item purchased
Personalize
each invitation with a note in red ink: I'm counting on your being there… I
need your support! - Sue (your name)
If
you are my unit member, I will be happy to make your invitations for you.
Or, if you have Publisher 2003, you can just insert your information into
my invitation. It looks like
this (pdf version).
CALL:
The week before the Grand Opening, call every guest!
FOLLOW-UP CALL SCRIPT:
“Hi Sally, this is Sue and I'm so excited about my Grand Opening on
Thursday. Did you get my invitation? (wait for her response) I am working
on refreshments this week and just need to know. Do you think you will be
able to attend? I really need your support. Can I count on you?”
(If she asks you how long the Grand Opening will be, tell her less than 2
hours. Don't put 7:00-9:00 on the invitation… just put 7:00; otherwise
they will arrive at various times… You need them all there at 7:00, so don't
put an end time on the invitation.)
SCRIPT IF SHE CAN'T COME:
“I'm sorry you won't be able to join us. But there is something you could do
to help me, though. I need to do 30 faces in 30 days to finish my training.
Is there any reason why I couldn't borrow your face to practice?”
Set the time by saying… “Let me tell you when my openings are… would
evenings or afternoons be better for you? In that case, I have a Tuesday or
Friday opening. Which would be better for you? Oh, thank you so much for
helping me!"
Call everyone that you sent an invitation to. You will most likely get a
message machine for 2/3 of them.
SCRIPT FOR ANSWERING MACHINE:
“Hi Sally, this is Sue and I am so excited about my Grand Opening on
Thursday. Hope you got my invitation because I'm counting on you being
there. I REALLY need your support. I'm a little nervous and would feel so
much better if you would be there to support me. Just call me if you can't
come, otherwise I will assume you can be here. Oh, by the way, if you have
a friend you think would like to join you that would be great. Just let me
know. My number is _________. Can't wait to see you on Thursday phone to
phone. !”
Keep refreshments light… coffee and soft drinks, cake or cookies. Have a
friend or family member serve the refreshments for you. Your job will be to
book everyone, not serve refreshments.
If possible, you'll want to have your products ordered and available for
sale at your Grand Opening. Call me right away so we can talk about how you
want to handle displays and inventory. Do you want to sell on the spot with
your products that have come in ahead of time? Or do you want to take
orders that night, place an order, and deliver later? It's a decision we can
discuss together.
